The Oklahoma Sooners are officially in danger.
The latest ESPN Bracketology from Joe Lunardi has the OU men's basketball team on the bubble for the NCAA Tournament. Lunardi listed the Sooners as one of the last four teams to get a first-round bye, along with North Carolina, Vanderbilt and San Diego State.
Although now on the edge, the Sooners are at least still in the field of 68 after enduring a four-game losing streak to start SEC play. ESPN has OU as the 10th seed in the Midwest Region. The Sooners would play No. 7 Gonzaga in the second round in Wichita, Kansas.
Last week, the Sooners were the No. 9 seed in the same region. OU's new matchup at No. 10 is actually better than the last projected matchup against No. 8 Louisville in Lexington, Kentucky, followed by No. 1 Alabama in the Round of 32.
ESPN's latest projected field of 68 includes 12 SEC teams, the most of any conference and up one from last week. SEC members predicted to go dancing include No. 1 Auburn, No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Florida, No. 2 Tennessee, No. 3 Kentucky, No. 4 Ole Miss, No. 4 Mississippi State, No. 5 Texas A&M, No. 7 Missouri, No. 8 Georgia, No. 10 Vanderbilt and No. 10 OU. Vandy is the latest to join the mix after upsetting Tennessee on Saturday.
The loaded SEC has been the death of OU, but also its saving grace. The Sooners probably don't suffer four losses in a row in another conference, but thanks to the stacked SEC, only one of those wasn't a Quadrant 1 loss, keeping OU's losing streak from being detrimental.
The Sooners' only Quadrant 2 loss so far was at home to Texas on Wednesday night. The Longhorns are still on the outside looking in as one of Lunardi's first four out. That's at least a jump from being one of the next four out, which is where the Longhorns were last week before knocking off OU.
OU will get to rest this week until another Quadrant 1 game against Arkansas on Saturday in Fayetteville.
