For the first time this basketball season, the Sooners went down instead of up.

The Oklahoma men's basketball team dropped in both major polls that were released on Monday after losing to No. 5 Alabama 107-79 on Saturday in the Sooners' SEC opener.

The Sooners fell the furthest in the USA Today Coaches Poll, plummeting six spots from No. 10 to No. 16. OU also slipped five slots in the Associated Press Top 25 from No. 12 to No. 17.

After starting the season unranked, the Sooners had been climbing the top 25 during their 13-game winning streak to start the campaign. OU went undefeated during its nonconference slate but immediately lost and had its streak halted when SEC play started against a top-5 squad.

Alabama stayed put at No. 5 in the AP Top 25 and went up a spot to No. 5 in the USA Today Coaches Poll after handling the Sooners.

The SEC has nine teams included in the AP Top 25. The SEC also takes up over half of the top 10 with six teams inside the first 10. Those top 10 teams include No. 1 Tennessee, No. 2 Auburn, No. 5 Alabama, No. 6 Kentucky, No. 8 Florida and No. 10 Texas A&M.

After cracking the top 10 for the first time this season, Texas A&M will be in Norman this week. The Sooners will host the Aggies at 8 p.m. CT on Wednesday night inside Lloyd Noble Center.

OU will then head to Georgia on Saturday. Although unranked, the Bulldogs still received votes in the AP Top 25 with a 12-2 record so far this season.

Other ranked SEC teams include No. 14 Mississippi State and No. 23 Ole Miss.
