For the first time since 2021, Sooner Nation gets to watch the Oklahoma men's basketball team in the NCAA Tournament.
The Sooners on Selection Sunday were announced as the 9-seed in the West Region of the NCAA Tournament. OU will play 8-seed UConn, which has won the last two national titles, in the first round on Friday.
If the Sooners get past UConn in the first round, then they would likely play 1-seed Florida, barring a miracle 16-over-1 upset to Norfolk State. The Gators just hours before the bracket was revealed beat Tennessee 86-77 in the SEC Men's Tournament final to boost themselves into top-seed consideration.
NCAA Tournament action officially tips off Tuesday with First Four games, but first-round games don't start until Thursday. The second round will end on Sunday to conclude the first week of the madness.
The Sooners will play UConn at 8:25 p.m. CT on Friday to start the NCAA Tournament run. OU has become accustomed to late-night tips this season, even during the SEC Men's Basketball Tournament, with its last game against Kentucky not ending until the next morning after a late start.
OU's second-round game would be on Sunday, but a time and TV network has not been announced yet.
