We're going to need two hands soon to count how many receivers Oklahoma has lost to the transfer portal.
Andrel Anthony on Wednesday became the fifth OU receiver to enter the transfer portal since it officially opened on Monday. Hayes Fawcett of On3 first reported the news.
Anthony, a 6-foot-1 senior, was at OU for two years after starting his career at Michigan. He played in only one game this season, though, because of an injury. Because he appeared in just the one game, Anthony can use his redshirt for this season and will have one year of eligibility left at his next destination.
Last season, Anthony had 27 receptions, 429 receiving yards and one TD while starting six games. It was the highest receptions and receiving yards total of his career. He caught three TDs during his final season with Michigan in 2022.
Anthony joins Jaquaize Pettaway, Nic Anderson, Jalil Farooq and J.J. Hester as OU receivers who have entered the transfer portal. Of those five, Anthony, Farooq and Anderson played less than four games this season because of injuries.
The Sooners could also still lose junior Deion Burks to the NFL Draft. Burks, who transferred from Purdue last year, was OU's best receiver this season.
Tight end Bauer Sharp actually led the Sooners in receiving yards this season with 324 and has also entered the transfer portal.
