If there's a game the Oklahoma Sooners ever want to be 100% the most for, it's the Red River Rivalry.

The No. 6 Sooners play unranked Texas at 2:30 p.m. CT Saturday at Cotton Bowl Stadium, and although the elephant in the room was the status of quarterback John Mateer, OU should be almost as close to fully healthy as it's been all season against Texas.

Red River Rivalry injury update

To no surprise, the Sooners will be without offensive linemen Troy Everett, Logan Howland, Jacob Sexton and Jake Taylor, as well as tight end Kade McIntyre. It's already been announced Everett will miss the rest of the season, but OU head coach Brent Venables said this week that the Sooners expect Sexton to return at some point.

The only questionable player the Sooners have heading into the Red River Rivalry is wide receiver Keontez Lewis, who crashed headfirst into the brick wall behind the end zone at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in the first play of the game against Kent State last week. Lewis was down for over 10 minutes before getting carted off.

Despite the scary scene then, Lewis apparently avoided any serious injuries and could even play a week later, which no one would have expected after witnessing last week's scene. He was listed as a game-time decision on the final availability report that was released just 90 minutes before kickoff.

Lewis, just a week after being carted off the field, ultimately went out there for the Sooners.

The Sooners are expected to have Mateer, who was who was not even listed on the final availability report before kickoff after injuring his right hand against Auburn on Sept. 20 and having surgery the following Wednesday during OU's bye week. Mateer missed OU's last game against Kent State, but his absence from the final availability report on Saturday means he's at least available against Texas.

Texas will just be without running back CJ Baxter, who has been banged up most of the season.
