The No. 8 Oklahoma Sooners host No. 22 Missouri at 11 a.m. CT Saturday needing to win their final two games of the regular season to clinch a spot in the College Football Playoff, but they'll have to check off their first win with missing bodies on both sides of the trenches, while the Tigers could be getting a key player back.
According to Friday's SEC Availability, the Sooners will for sure be without six players against Missouri, and probably even eight, including multiple starters on both sides of the ball.
Heath Ozaeta, R Mason Thomas injury update
The most notable update was defensive end R Mason Thomas getting downgraded from questionable to doubtful, which means a player has a 25% chance of playing. Thomas also missed last week's upset over Alabama after injuring his quad during a scoop-and-score against Tennessee on Nov. 1.
Although the availability report didn't rule Thomas out yet, multiple reports surfaced Friday night that Thomas is not expected to play Saturday.
Even after missing most of the last two games with the injury, Thomas, a senior and team captain, still leads the Sooners with 6.5 sacks. He also has 23 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, two quarterback hurries, a fumble recover and two forced fumbles in nine games this season.
Cornerback Gentry Williams was also listed as doubtful on Friday. Williams also missed last week after making five starts this season. Also in the secondary, Kendel Dolby again was a late addition to the availability report as out.
On the other side of the ball, the Sooners will be without four offensive linemen, including starting left guard Heath Ozaeta. The other three linemen are regulars on the injured list, but Ozaeta just popped up as doubtful on Thursday before getting downgraded Friday evening.
After missing the season opener because of an injury, Ozaeta, a redshirt sophomore, started seven games at left guard before being behind redshirt freshman Eddy Pierre-Louis the last two games.
Running back Jovantae Barnes will also miss his seventh game in a row for the offense. However, running back Taylor Tatum wasn't on the report all week, so is expected to return.
As for Missouri, the Tigers are expected to have starting quarterback Beau Pribula back after he missed their last two games with a dislocated ankle. Pribula was doubtful Wednesday before getting upgraded on Thursday, then was completely off the report by Friday.
