Oklahoma injury update: Who the Sooners will be without vs. LSU

It's a long list...

It takes both hands to count how many players the Oklahoma Sooners will be without for their regular-season finale.

The No. 8 Sooners had 10 players listed as out on the Game Day SEC Availability Report ahead of hosting LSU at 2:30 p.m. CT Saturday in Norman. That total included four starters from both sides of the ball.

OU offensive line injury update

The biggest concern that arose from this week's injury report was the Sooners' situation at center with starter Jake Maikkula out. The only other player to start there this season was Troy Everett in Week 1, but Everett suffered a season-ending injury. That leaves redshirt junior Gunnar Allen as the only center left on the depth chart after just three appearances in four years at OU, including two this season.

Starting right guard Febechi Nwaiwu could also play center, which would cause a complete reshuffling along the offensive line, especially with starting left guard Heath Ozaeta also sidelined.

In this scenario, starting right tackle Ryan Fodje would likely slide to right guard. Derek Simmons would then assume his role at right tackle after losing that starting job to Fodje. Eddy Pierre-Louis would step up at left guard with Ozaeta out.

On the other side of the trenches, the Sooners will be without defensive end and sacks leader R Mason Thomas for the third game in a row because of a quad injury. Gentry Williams and Kendel Dolby will also be missing again in the secondary.

Defensive back Reggie Powers III will be sidelined for just the first half after getting ejected for a targeting foul against Missouri last week.

LSU also has its own injury issues without starting quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. Wide receiver Nic Anderson, a familiar name for OU fans and to injury reports, is also out for his return to Norman.
