There's a top 10 men's basketball team in Oklahoma now.

The Sooners on Monday debuted inside the top 10 of the USA Today Coaches Poll at No. 10. Oklahoma also stayed put at No. 12 in the Associated Press Top 25, which was also released Monday.

OU went up one spot in the USA Today Coaches Poll after beating Prairie View 89-67 on Sunday. The Sooners jumped fellow SEC school Kentucky after the Wildcats didn't play a game last week. Kentucky lost to Ohio State 85-65 in its last outing on Dec. 21. The Wildcats are still No. 10 in the AP Top 25.

The Sooners and Kentucky are part of nine SEC teams included inside the top 25 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. That includes five teams inside the top 10: No. 1 Tennessee, No. 2 Auburn, No. 5 Florida, No. 6 Alabama and No. 10 OU.

The rest of the ranked league teams are No. 11 Kentucky, No. 12 Texas A&M, No. 16 Mississippi State and No. 23 Ole Miss.

The Sooners will tip off their first SEC slate still undefeated after the new year begins. OU went 13-0 in nonconference play during 2024 with a pair of ranked wins. That included a 6-0 month during December and 7-0 during November.

OU's SEC schedule will start against No. 6 Alabama at 5 p.m. CT on Saturday. The Sooners will then host No. 12 Texas A&M at 8 p.m. CT on Wednesday, Jan. 8. Both of those games will be broadcasted on SEC Network.

A win over the Crimson Tide would certainly bump the Sooners into the top 10 of both major polls.
