The Oklahoma Sooners are starting to feel privileged at this point to land blue-chip 2028 athlete Kamieon Compton-Nero.

Already after a head start and the growing lead in the race for Oklahoma, Rivals national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman on Tuesday released Compton-Nero's schedule of planned unofficial visits for this upcoming college football season, and there was another glaring advantage in favor of the in-state Sooners.

Not only will Compton-Nero's first stop be Norman on Sept. 4 for the Sooners' season opener on Friday, Sept. 4, but OU is also the only program he will visit twice during that span, with another trip planned for Oct. 10, when the Sooners will host him in Dallas as the home team of the Red River Rivalry against Texas.

Compton-Nero's other stops include Ole Miss, Alabama, SMU, Texas Tech, LSU and Notre Dame.

Compton-Nero is the consensus top player in the state of Oklahoma from the 2028 class as a four-star recruit. According to the 247Sports Composite, he's the No. 48 national prospect and the best athlete in the entire class with the ability to play both sides of the ball at the college level. OU has been recruiting him as a safety. He could also hold his own as a quarterback and wide receiver.

Last season as a sophomore, Compton-Nero led Rejoice Christian School to back-to-back Class A-I state titles as its quarterback with freshman OU receiver Xavier Okwufulueze as his top target. He totaled 3,335 yards of offense and 49 touchdowns. He also thrived on the defensive side of the ball with 95 tackles and five interceptions, three of which he returned for a score.

Compton-Nero has since transferred across town to Owasso High school ahead of his junior campaign to further prove himself at the highest level of preps football in the state.

Kamieon Compton-Nero still seems destined to commit to the Sooners

The Sooners already started ahead of everyone else in the race for Compton-Nero as the premiere program in his home state. Since, OU has emerged as the clear favorite, with multiple recruiting experts already having predictions in for Compton-Nero to eventually be a Sooner for months now.

It was made known earlier this month, though, that the Sooners will still have to be patient in locking down Compton-Nero after he announced a crowded finalist group of 15 programs, including OU, Oklahoma State, LSU, Missouri, Florida, Oregon, Michigan, Alabama, Texas A&M, SMU, Ole Miss, Notre Dame, Texas Tech, Kansas State and Tennessee. Based on planned visits, you can essentially cross off OSU, Missouri, Florida, Oregon, Michigan, Texas A&M, Kansas State and Tennessee.

Even with a long list of programs still technically in the mix for Compton-Nero, there still doesn't seem to be any reason to worry he won't be repping crimson and cream one day. He's taking advantage of his early Friday night off to be at the Sooners' opener so OU can set the tone immediately. There's also not a better impression the Sooners could make on an Oklahoman than beating Texas while he's there to witness it.

Between being the home-state program, having a former teammate on the roster and hosting him multiple times throughout the season, the Sooners hold all the cards to hit the jackpot with Compton-Nero.
