To the surprise of no one, Oklahoma guard Jeremiah Fears was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team.

Fears was the only Sooner included in the 2025 SEC men's basketball yearly awards that were announced on Monday. He joined Texas' Tre Johnson, Georgia's Asa Newell, Auburn's Tahaad Pettiford and Alabama's Labaron Philon on the All-Freshman Team.

On the same day, Fears was also named SEC Freshman of the Week for the fourth time this season. He's peaking at just the right time as March Madness tips off for the Sooners with the SEC Men's Basketball Tournament. OU, the 14 seed, will play 11 seed Georgia in the first round on Wednesday night.

The Sooners notched two massive wins last week to keep their NCAA Tournament chances alive. Fears averaged 22 points, three rebounds, 4.5 assists and one steal during the week that likely saved OU's season.

In an upset against then-No. 15 Missouri on Wednesday night, Fears scored a career-high 31 points while going 9-for-13 from the field and making all 12 of his free throws. He then followed up that performance with 13 points in a win against Texas on Saturday.

Most impressively, as a freshman handling the ball, Fears had just three turnovers total in the two games with just one against Missouri.

In likely his only college season as a projected lottery pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Fears is averaging 16.3 points, 4.2 assists and 1.6 steals a game, which all lead the Sooners.
