Could a reunion be coming?

Some Oklahoma fans might be willing to delete all the hurtful things they said about wide receiver Nic Anderson on social media if it means another playmaker for the Sooners in 2026.

After transferring from OU last year, Anderson is back in the Transfer Portal, according to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports on Wednesday, with plans to transfer from LSU with possibly two years of eligibility remaining.

Nic Anderson back in Transfer Portal after leaving LSU

Anderson spent just one year at LSU, and during the season head coach Brian Kelly was fired before being replaced by Lane Kiffin. An injury limited Anderson to 10 games, but during the Tigers' struggles and changes at quarterback, he had 12 catches for 106 yards and two touchdowns. The 2025 season was really only the second look at what Anderson can do, and it was in a terrible situation, albeit one he put himself in.

As a redshirt freshman in 2023, Anderson broke the OU record for most touchdown receptions in a season by a freshman with 10. He caught 38 passes for 798 yards. His highlight of the season was catching the game-winning TD pass from Dillion Gabriel to beat Texas in the Red River Rivalry. However, after seeming to be the Sooners' next great receiver, Anderson played in just one game in 2024 because of an injury, then headed to LSU. Missing that season, though, could eventually lead to an extra year for Anderson heading into his redshirt-senior campaign.

A year later, the Sooners are still in need of receivers after losing eight to the portal this cycle and Anderson needs a new home. If not for his past with the Sooners, Anderson, listed at 6-foot-4, would be the type of receiver all OU fans would be begging general manager Jim Nagy to get to Norman. However, even after abandoning Oklahoma just a year ago, plenty of fans are still willing to forgive if it means quarterback John Mateer has another weapon.
