Soon, the Oklahoma Sooners will know if they're adding another elite wide receiver to their already top-ranked 2027 recruiting class.

Adam Gorney of Rivals reported on Monday that consensus four-star wide receiver Zerek Sidney will announce his college decision on Thursday after narrowing down his choices to Oklahoma, Washington and in-state Arizona State. His announcement will be live on CBS Sports' YouTube channel.

Sooners battling Arizona State and Washington for Zerek Sidney

Sidney reduced his lengthy list down to three after also getting offers from Arkansas, Florida State, Indiana, Miami, Michigan, Missouri, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, USC, Vanderbilt and more. He eliminated USC and Notre Dame from his top 5.

After making it this far in the race, the Sooners' biggest challenge now will be beating out Sidney's home state Sun Devils, who have NFL legend Hines Ward coaching their receivers. Sidney's last reported visit was to Arizona State on Nov. 28. He was last in Norman on Sept. 6, when the Sooners beat Michigan in primetime.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Sidney, listed at 6-foot, is the No. 46 receiver in the class, but 247Sports by itself has him ranked at 36. He's also the No. 6 overall prospect in the state of Arizona out of Desert Edge High School in Goodyear, which is less than an hour from Arizona State's campus.

Sidney appeared in just four games last season as a junior because of an injury. He totaled 11 receptions, 111 receiving yards and a touchdown, according to MaxPreps. As a sophomore in 2024, though, he caught 45 passes for 591 yards and 11 TDs in 12 games as his team won a state championship. Sidney's recruiting ratings could soar with another full season if he impresses as a senior.

He was recently named a Navy All-American.

The Sooners already have two wide receivers committed to their 2027 class in four-star Demare Dezeurn from California and three-star Tra'Von Hall from Alabama. OU head coach Brent Venables also just recently visited top-10 receiver Quentin Hale in the Los Angeles area, so the Sooners are looking to stack the deck at receiver in 2027.
