Oklahoma fell out of the nation's top-25 rankings this week following a 34-3 humbling at the hands of the hated and top-ranked Texas Longhorns on Saturday, but the drop wasn't as far as some might have expected.

The Sooners fell to what would be the No. 26 spot in this week's Coaches Poll voting and would be 29th in the Associated Press poll. Prior to Saturday's results, OU sat 18th in the AP poll and 16th in the Coaches Poll.

Oklahoma came out on fire early against the Longhorns, forcing a turnover on Texas' first possession of the game advancing the ball into plus territory on the first two Sooner possessions, but coming away with just three points. Texas was held to just 13 yards of offense in the first quarters. Unfortunately, OU was unable to sustain any of that beyond the opening 15 minutes.

This is the second time in the past decade that Oklahoma has fallen out of the top-25 national rankings in both of the major polls. and the first time since the 2022 season. The Sooners dropped out of both national polls after a 55-24 loss to TCU in October 2022. OU has been dropped out of the AP poll on three previous occasions over the past decade.

Eight SEC teams are ranked this week, including five in the top 10 headed by No. 1 Texas.

Oklahoma still has games remaining with No. 7 Alabama, No. 8 LSU, No. 18/15 Ole Miss (AP/Coaches) and No. 19/16 Missouri. All but Alabama are on the road.
