Oklahoma was ranked 13th in the final Associated Press Poll for the 2025 season.

That was the Sooners' highest ranking in the final AP poll since the 2021 season, Lincoln Riley's final season and the year before Brent Venables was named head coach. This was Venables' second Oklahoma team to finish the season in the top 25. His 2023 Sooner team finished No. 15.

The Indiana Hoosiers were the top-ranked team in the final AP Top 25 for 2025, capping off a perfect 16-0 season with a national championship win over No. 2 Miami on Monday night. It was the Hoosiers' first national championship in football.

Ole Miss, Oregon and Ohio State rounded out the top 5 teams in the final poll, respectively, followed by Georgia, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Alabama and Notre Dame.

Oklahoma began the 2025 season ranked No. 18 in the AP poll and climbed as high as No. 5 six weeks into the season. The Sooners spent a total of six weeks ranked in the top 10 season and was in the top 25 all season while going 10-3.

Heading into the 2025 postseason, Oklahoma was ranked eighth in the country and earned the No. 8 seed in the College Football Playoff. A home loss to Alabama in the opening round of the playoff, however, caused the Sooners to fall five spots in the final AP ranking, even below Notre Dame, which didn't get into the playoff and refused a bowl bid.

Seven teams from the SEC were ranked among the final AP Top 25 teams, the most of any conference, including seven in the top 15. The Big Ten was next with six top-25 teams.
