After beefing up his defensive coaching staff, Brent Venables is now adding to the Oklahoma Sooners' offensive masterminds.
OU Insider reported Sunday night that longtime head coach and offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson will join the Sooners as an offensive analyst.

It will be a reunion for Wilson, who was on OU's staff under Bob Stoops along with Venables for nine seasons. Wilson got to OU in 2002 to be the Sooners' running game coordinator and offensive line coach. He was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2006 while also coaching tight ends and fullbacks.
In 2008, Wilson won the Broyles Award, given to the best assistant coach in the country, while serving as OU's offensive coordinator. That season, quarterback Sam Bradford won the Heisman Trophy and the Sooners made the national championship game.
Wilson left OU after the 2010 season for his first head coaching job at Indiana. He led the Hoosiers for six seasons before becoming Ohio State's offensive coordinator and tight ends coach for six seasons.
Most recently, Wilson was the head coach at nearby Tulsa for not even two full seasons. The Golden Hurricane went 7-16 under Wilson before he was fired last season. Wilson has certainly had more success as an offensive assistant than head coach, especially in the new age of college football.
Once Wilson was fired, many speculated he would end up back in Norman in some capacity.

Wilson's knowledge and experience could be a major asset for OU's new offensive coordinator, Ben Arbuckle, who is only 29 years old and has ran a college offense for only three seasons.
Starting his coaching career in 1984, Wilson has been coaching since long before Arbuckle was even born. In fact, in 26 years, Wilson has been an offensive coordinator almost the same number of years Arbuckle has been alive.
Wilson could also be a right-hand man for tight ends coach Joe Jon Finley, considering Wilson was a tight ends coach for 11 of his seasons coaching.
