The Michigan Wolverines got some injury news that could be detrimental for them while benefitting the Oklahoma Sooners.
The No. 18 Sooners host No. 15 Michigan at 6:30 p.m. CT on Saturday at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Stadium. The massive game between two blue bloods got the primetime slot on ABC.
On the eve of the marquee matchup, Pete Nakos of On3 on Friday reported that Michigan is expected to be without standout safety Rod Moore.
Rod Moore expected to miss Oklahoma vs. Michigan
Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore said earlier in the week that Rod Moore was questionable after missing the Wolverines' season opener against New Mexico last week.
“Rod is, I’d say, questionable,” Sherrone Moore said this week. “Possible. We’ll see how he feels.”
It's been a looong time since Michigan fans have seen Rod Moore. Moore hasn't seen the field since Michigan beat Washington in the 2024 national championship game. He tore his ACL during that game and has been sidelined ever since while missing all of last season.
Even while injured, Moore has been voted a team captain the last two years, proving how important he is for the Wolverines. In 2023, Moore was an All-Big Ten selection while starting 11 games and recording 38 tackles, one tackle for loss, three pass breakups and two interceptions.
Michigan's defense will also be without linebacker Jaishawn Barham for the first half against Oklahoma. Barham was ejected for a questionable targeting call during the second half of the Wolverines' Week 1 matchup against New Mexico.
Meanwhile, the Sooners' offense should be at full-strength with running back Jaydn Ott expected to be 100% after limited playing time last week. Two offensive linemen, Michael Fasusi and Derek Simmons, are also expected to make their OU debuts after missing last week.
That gives star quarterback John Mateer all of his weapons for the first time with a weak defensive middle for Michigan.
