New Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer is going to be a lot of fun for Sooner Nation this college football season, whether it's from watching him, or even playing as Mateer in a video game.

EA Sports on Tuesday released the top 100 players by overall rating for the upcoming College Football 26 video game, which releases Thursday, July 10. Mateer was the only Sooner included among the top 100 overall players and cracked the top 5 at his position with a 91 overall rating.

John Mateer among best QBs in CFB26

Mateer was tied for the fourth-best rating among quarterbacks in the game. EA Sports announced via social media the top 5 QBs, but did not include Mateer, putting Arizona State's Sam Leavitt at No. 4 and South Carolina's LaNorris Sellers at the fifth spot. However, on the EA Sports website, Mateer is No. 5 on the list, as all three have a rating of 91.

The quarterbacks ahead of Mateer with 92 overall ratings are Clemson's Cade Klubnik, Penn State's Drew Allar and LSU's Garrett Nussmeier. Miami's Carson Beck, who transferred from Georgia over the offseason, also has a 91 overall rating to round out the best quarterbacks in CFB26.

Mateer's ratings for specific traits were also made available. His speed rating of 89 was tied with Sellers for the best among the top quarterbacks announced so far. He'll be great as a mobile QB to play with. He also has a 92 in acceleration, 89 in agility, 90 in change of direction, 84 in carrying, 83 in break tackle, 73 in trucking, 96 in ball carrier vision, 85 in spin move, 89 in juke move and 86 in break sack.

As a passer, Mateer has ratings of 92 in throw power, 81 in throw under pressure, 87 in short throw accuracy, 92 in medium throw accuracy, 85 in deep throw accuracy, 96 in throw on the run and 83 in play action.

Mateer's ratings mirror his play in real life. Last season at Washington State, he led the FBS with 44 total touchdowns in his first year as a starter as a sophomore. Mateer made plays with both his arm and legs.

Also matching Mateer's play style is his 95 toughness rating, which might even be too low.
