Jim Nagy is already making note of bulletin-board material for the Sooners

Disrespect doesn't get past Nagy.

Oklahoma doesn't play a football game for another seven months, but OU general manager Jim Nagy is already keeping notes of who doubts the Sooners ahead of the 2026 college football season.

Popular college football media personality Josh Pate, using the past three seasons as reference, recently released his top 12 college football programs in the country, and the Sooners were nowhere on his list. The rankings included, in order, Ohio State, Georgia, Indiana, Oregon, Texas, Notre Dame, Alabama, Miami, Texas A&M, Michigan, Texas Tech and Tennessee.

It's worth noting this was not team specific for the 2026 OU squad, but the programs as a whole and what they accomplished during a three-year span. According to Pate, he took in account on-field results, talent acquisition, resource pool, organizational stability and structure, and slight look to the future.

Jim Nagy calls out Josh Pate after glaring OU omission

Regardless, even though he was part of only one team so far, Nagy, who has responsibility for things like talent acquisition and the future, made sure to note Pate's disrespect on X.

During that three-year span, all under Brent Venables, the Sooners were a combined 26-13 between two different conferences after leaving the Big 12 for the SEC in 2025. OU posted a pair of 10-win seasons that sandwiched a disappointing 6-7 campaign in 2024. The Sooners also returned to the College Football Playoff this past season. As for the future, the Sooners have a host of big-time playmakers returning for 2026 and currently boast the No. 1 2027 recruiting class in the country.

Indiana, Ohio State and Michigan have won the last three national titles, but Michigan has also endured a cheating scandal and two dramatic head-coaching changes during that time. The Sooners have more double-digit win seasons during that time than Michigan, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Tennessee. Essentially, one poor season excluded OU from Pate's consideration.

Pate eventually responded with a GIF, then Nagy replied, "Few guys I respect more, Josh. We've got plenty of work to do and we embrace it. Hope to see you later this spring in Norman!"

Nagy is active on social media and this isn't the first time he's not only pointed out bulletin-board material for the Sooners, but he's also not afraid to call others out, even if it's the NCAA.

So not only is Nagy scouting across the country for the best talent, he also scours social media to find the best material to motivate that talent once it's in crimson and cream.
