Unlike during the NFL Draft, a Sooner's name will be called early during the NBA Draft.
With NBA Draft declarations over, Adam Finkelstein of CBS Sports released a new mock draft ahead of the upcoming 2025 NBA Draft. The mock draft projected former Oklahoma point guard Jeremiah Fears to go 10th overall to the Portland Trail Blazers.
CBS Sports predicts Fears to be top-10 pick in NBA Draft
Fears popped up in mock drafts throughout his only season with the Sooners, but this is a slight improvement from the last. In the midst of March Madness, ESPN predicted Fears to go 11th overall to the Houston Rockets. However, multiple other outlets had Fears as a top-10 pick early in the season.
In his lone season at OU, Fears led the Sooners with 17.1 points a game as a young freshman. He also added 4.1 assists and 4.1 rebounds while averaging 3.4 turnovers from the point. He concluded his college career with a 20-point outing in a loss to UConn in the NCAA Tournament. He tallied at least 20 points in his final three games, all of which were in postseason tournaments.
Other than his success on the court and his size at 6-foot-4, NBA scouts are most excited about Fears' potential at such a young age. He's one of the youngest draft prospects and won't turn 19 until October after reclassifying from the 2026 class to 2025 last year. When Fears should had been a senior in high school, he was already leading an SEC program in scoring.
Fears' stock could continue to rise before the NBA Draft on June 25. The NBA Draft Combine, which OU's Jalon Moore was also invited to, will take place all of next week. The draft order and Fears' possible destination will become more clear after the NBA Draft Lottery on Monday.
