For the second time since leaving Oklahoma, Jalen Hurts will play in the Super Bowl.

The Philadelphia Eagles thumped the Washington Commanders 55-23 on Sunday in the NFC Championship Game to punch their ticket to Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9. The Eagles will play the winner of the AFC Championship Game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills.

This will be the second time in three seasons that Hurts will quarterback the Eagles in a Super Bowl. The Eagles lost to the Chiefs 38-35 in Super Bowl LVII.

Despite the loss, Hurts was still spectacular, accounting for 374 total yards and four total TDs. He led the Eagles in both passing (304) and rushing yards (70) with one passing TD and three scores on the ground.

Hurts was vital again in getting the Eagles back to the Super Bowl. He scored four total TDs in the win -- once through the air and three times on the ground. Hurts completed 20 of 28 passes for 246 yards with no turnovers.

Star running Saquon Barkley also scored three rushing TDs, as Hurts will have a lot more help on this trip to the Super Bowl. In total, the Eagles had seven rushing TDs in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday.

Hurts played just one season at OU in 2019 after transferring from Alabama. Hurts was a Heisman Trophy runner-up in that lone season. He also led the Sooners to the College Football Playoff that season.

After a season with the Sooners catapulted Hurts' draft stock, the Eagles drafted him in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. By the 2022 season, Hurts was not only the franchise quarterback, but had the Eagles in the Super Bowl.

Joining Hurts in the Super Bowl will be fellow former Sooner Lane Johnson, who is a Pro Bowler protecting Hurts on the offensive line. Grant Calcaterra is also a tight end on the roster. Calcaterra played three seasons at OU before retiring from football for a year before finishing his college career at SMU.
