Need to know
The main thing to know ahead of this matchup: the Auburn Tigers are a dang good basketball team.
The Tigers deserve to be ranked as the best team in the country right now. Auburn is on a 13-game winning streak and 8-0 in conference play while competing in a loaded SEC.
Auburn has not gotten that pretty record thanks to an easy schedule either. The Tigers have beaten eight ranked teams this season, including four from the SEC.
Their only loss was to then-No. 9 Duke on Dec. 4. The Blue Devils are now ranked second behind Auburn with a 19-2 record.
While Auburn has been the most consistent team in the country this season, the Sooners have been quite the opposite.
The Sooners started the season 13-0 after getting through their nonconference schedule undefeated, but they haven't been on a winning streak since. OU is 16-5 and 3-5 in SEC play.
OU is coming off its first ranked win over a conference opponent after thumping then-No. 24 Vanderbilt 97-67 on Saturday. The Sooners' other two conference wins were against SEC bottom dwellers South Carolina and Arkansas.
The Sooners do have the firepower to keep up with Auburn, though, if they're firing on all cylinders. Senior forward Jalon Moore leads OU with 18.2 points a game. The Sooners also have a projected NBA Draft lottery pick in freshman Jeremiah Fears, who's averaging 16.1 points.
