It was written in the stars for the Oklahoma Sooners to win the SEC Softball Tournament title game after the heroics against Arkansas, but this team is going to have to settle as being the co-champ instead. Wait, what? Unfortunately, that's indeed the case.

On Saturday, Oklahoma was all set to take on Texas A&M with the hardware on the line. Due to inclement weather, the tough decision was called to not play the game. However, it won't be rescheduled, with Greg Sankey and the SEC announcing that the Sooners and Aggies will be co-champs for the tournament. As you might have been able to guess, Oklahoma supporters everywhere were not happy about this:

On one side of things, we understand this decision. The last thing the conference wants to do is put any of these young women at risk due to the weather, and with the NCAA Softball Selection Show coming on Sunday, there was a race against time to try to reschedule things.

However, Sankey and his team couldn't have tried to figure things out in an attempt to have the game played on Sunday morning or early afternoon? The decision to just cancel the game outright felt like it came way too quickly. Oklahoma and Texas A&M battled hard to reach the title game and both sides deserved the chance to be the solo champs, not split the glory. Plenty of people are pretty irked with Sankey too.

Oklahoma and A&M fans getting together to roast Sankey? Yup, that's apparently on the bingo card. In all seriousness, not having a contingency plan in place for something like this is a black eye on Sankey and the conference. What Patty Gasso and her players have done this week alone has been quite special and the SEC Tournament should never end with two teams on top.

This is why we play the game. Oklahoma will look to go on a deep run in the Women's College World Series, and while being the co-champs is still a high honor, we'll be left wondering what might have happened had the Sooners and Aggies faced off.
