The SEC Softball Tournament is the epitome of a gauntlet.

The college softball postseason begins this week, and the SEC easily boasts the toughest conference tournament in America. Of the 15 teams in the tournament, six have been ranked No. 1 in the country at some point this season, including Arkansas, which is the 6-seed but was just named No. 1 in the Softball America Top 25.

The SEC Softball Tournament bracket is 15 teams for the first time with the additions of the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners, who are the 1-seed as the regular-season conference champions. Both of the Big 12 newcomers were also atop national rankings for multiple weeks this season.

SEC Softball Tournament action started Tuesday in Athens, Georgia, but the Sooners and the other top-4 seeds won't play until Thursday. The 5-9 seeds also got first-round byes and rested on Tuesday.
