The Oklahoma Sooners are just two wins away from going back to the Women's College World Series.
Even for the defending four-time national champions, though, those wins aren't guaranteed. The No. 2 national seed Sooners will host the No. 15 Alabama Crimson Tide for a Super Regional matchup this weekend at Love's Field in Norman. The series will start on Friday and could end as early as Saturday.
These two SEC rivals already met for a conference series during the regular season, and the Crimson Tide took two of three from OU in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. It was one of just three conference series losses for the Sooners in their first season in the SEC. After that loss, though, OU rattled off back-to-back sweeps over Mississippi State and Texas to ultimately claim the SEC regular-season championship.
The Sooners also swept their way through the Norman Regional last weekend to start the NCAA Softball Championship. No team lasted more than five innings with OU as the Sooners notched three run-rule victories and outscored opponents 31-3.
Alabama also swept through its own regional in Tuscaloosa to set up the clash in Norman. The winner of the rematch series will punch its ticket to the Women's College World Series on May 29-June 5/6 at Devon Park in Oklahoma City.
