The Oklahoma Sooners will get one final tune-up game before a daunting back half of the schedule.
Coming off a bye week, the No. 5 Sooners will host Kent State, which is 1-3, on Saturday at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. The Golden Flashes' are 0-3 against FBS opponents, while OU is 4-0 overall with two victories over top-25 teams. After this last nonconference matchup, though, six of the Sooners' final seven games will be against teams currently ranked, including No. 9 Texas in the Red River Rivalry the next week.
This Week 6 game is headlined by quarterback John Mateer's injury and sophomore Michael Hawkins Jr. filling in. Hawkins started four games last season as a freshman, but that was when he was thrown into the fire of SEC play and in a terrible system. This will be Sooner Nation's first real look at Hawkins in Arbuckle's offense, which has elevated every QB that's ever ran it so far.
