Four Oklahoma Sooners were named to the 2024 All-SEC teams in OU's first football season in the conference.
Senior captain and standout linebacker Danny Stutsman was named to the All-SEC First Team. Junior defensive lineman R Mason Thomas was voted to the second team, and senior safety Billy Bowman and sophomore long-snapper Ben Anderson were selected to the third team.
Stutsman, a First-Team All-Big 12 honoree a year ago and Walter Camp Second-Team All-American, started all 12 games this season and ranks fourth in the SEC and 22nd nationally, averaging 9.1 tackles per game. He also ranks fourth in the SEC and 24th nationally with 109 total tackles and is a finalist for the Butkus Award, which recognizes the best linebacker in college football.
Thomas enjoyed a breakout season in 2024 after injuries plagued his first two seasons at Oklahoma. The defensive lineman recorded nine sacks this season, fourth best in the SEC and 22nd on a national scale. He also recovered two fumbles and returned one for a touchdown against LSU in the Sooners' final game of the regular season. Thomas has another year of eligibility remaining but hasn't announced if he will return in 2025 or declare for the NFL Draft.
Bowman, a CBS Sports and 247Sports First-Team All-American in 2023, started all 12 of Oklahoma games at safety this season. This season, the senior ranks fourth on the team with 54 tackles. He has two interceptions and two fumble recoveries, one of which was returned for a touchdown against Missouri to give OU a brief lead late in the game. Bowman ranks fourth in OU football history with 251 career interception yards.
In addition to being named to the All-SEC Third Team, Anderson was a semifinalist for this year's Patrick Mannelly Award, given every year to the best long-snapper in college football. He has started every game the last two seasons and was part of a special teams kicking unit that converted 30 of 31 extra-point attempts and 17 of 21 field-goal tries.
Oklahoma will finish out its season and first as a member of the SEC with a game against Navy on Dec. 27 in the Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, Texas.
Selections for the 2024 All-SEC teams are made by a vote of the conference head coaches. The coaches are not allowed to vote for one of their own players.
