You can start making plans for 2025.
The SEC on Wednesday night unveiled every conference team's schedule, including Oklahoma's. First, here's a look at the whole thing.
Date | Opponent |
---|---|
Aug. 30 | Illinois State |
Sept. 6 | Michigan |
Sept. 13 | at Temple |
Sept. 20 | Auburn |
Oct. 4 | Kent State |
Oct. 11 | Texas (in Dallas) |
Oct. 18 | at South Carolina |
Oct. 25 | Ole Miss |
Nov. 1 | at Tennessee |
Nov. 15 | at Alabama |
Nov. 22 | Missouri |
Nov. 29 | LSU |
Obviously the first game that sticks out is that date with Michigan Week 2. The Wolverines won a national title last year but went 7-5 this season with an early loss to Texas.
This matchup between OU and Michigan was set up all the way back in 2014, when the Sooners were still in the Big 12 an coached by Bob Stoops. The programs have met only once before -- an OU win in the 1976 Orange Bowl.
The Sooners also have an odd trip to Philadelphia to play Temple, which came to Norman this season. It's not often you see an SEC team go to a place like Temple to play.
OU's second SEC slate will start with a home game against Auburn, which the Sooners beat this season for their first-ever SEC win.
Then after one conference game, the Sooners get a week off then host Kent State for their fourth non-conference bout. That essentially gives OU two bye weeks before playing Texas on Oct. 11 in Dallas. Texas, meanwhile, will take a trip to Florida the week before the Red River Rivalry.
However, that earlier matchup against Kent State means no time to breathe in November like the Sooners could this season when they hosted Maine and ended a three-game losing streak to SEC opponents.
Nov. 2025 will be a gauntlet, though. There's a bye week between, but the month will start with trips to Alabama and Tennessee before ending with a home games against Missouri and LSU.
OU will have only three true conference road games, though, with trips to South Carolina, Tennessee and Alabama. All of those teams came to Oklahoma Memorial Stadium this season.
Before 2025, though, the Sooners will first finish up the 2024 season with the Armed Forces Bowl against Navy on Dec. 27 in Fort Worth, Texas.
