Vegas has the Oklahoma Sooners starting up a winning streak, but that belief from oddsmakers hasn't mattered yet.

The Sooners host a surging South Carolina for a Halloween matchup at Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. OU, at 4-3, hasn't won back-to-back games yet this season, but after beating Mississippi State a week ago, there's another chance to finally string wins together.

So far, after four wins, Vegas has made the Sooners the favorites every time but once, against Georgia on the road. OU looked great in Week 1 against UTEP, and although Vegas predicted a small spread, the Sooners were still favored over Michigan before suffering their first loss of the season.

Vegas also believed the Sooners had things figured out after upsetting then-No. 1 Texas in the Red River Rivalry. OU was a small favorite over Kentucky the next week despite being an unranked team taking on a top-15 squad. The rankings proved to be more accurate than the odds.

Now, the Sooners are in the same spot again as the favorites coming off a win. Is this the time for OU to quit defying the odds?

Predicting Oklahoma vs. South Carolina

This is, fittingly, a scary matchup for the Sooners. South Carolina might be the hottest team in the SEC right now, doing what OU has been unable to do so far and winning two in a row. The Gamecocks have beaten ranked opponents in back-to-back outings with victories over No. 11 Tennessee and No. 16 Florida.

Halloween is a time for surprises around the corner, though.

The Sooners' zombie offense finally showed life last week in the win against Mississippi State. Starting left tackle Michael Fasusi returned from injury to bolster offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle's game plan of controlling the game and taking pressure off quarterback John Mateer.

OU totaled 467 yards against the Bulldogs, which was the most ever by the Sooners in an SEC matchup since joining the conference in 2024. There was a consistent ground attack, and Mateer was efficient with no turnovers. If Arbuckle follows the same winning formula, plus Tate Sandell is even close to his 2025 form at kicker, then the Sooners can do enough offensively to win this one.

The Sooners won't light up the scoreboard, but they won't have to because Brent Venables' defense can keep quarterback LaNorris Sellers and South Carolina's offense under wraps. The low-scoring affair will make for a terrifying few hours on Owen Field before a light at the end.

This outcome and finally getting that elusive back-to-back win will suddenly bring the Sooners' College Football Playoff chances out of the grave, especially if college football gives us even more chaos on Halloween.
