Former Oklahoma players are getting their last chance to impress NFL scouts and coaches.

Oklahoma is hosting its annual Pro Day on Tuesday in Norman. Seventeen players are scheduled to participate, including nine defenders, four offensive players and four specialists.

The group is headlined by the three players who competed at the NFL Scouting Combine just a few weeks ago: safety Billy Bowman Jr., linebacker Danny Stutsman and defensive end Ethan Downs. None flopped in Indianapolis but all could still use another good impression on scouts.

Most of the participants, though, are getting their first, and likely only, opportunity in front of NFL scouts. In reality, several don't stand a chance, but some players could do enough Tuesday to get a chance from an NFL team.

Defensive lineman Trace Ford is a guy OU coach Brent Venables specifically said this past season should be a player who goes to the NFL. Venables said scouts should like his versatility. At 6-foot-2 and 249 pounds, Ford was mostly an edge rusher for the Sooners, but he also stepped up and played cheetah last season.

Ford transferred to OU after four years at Oklahoma State, where he was Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year in 2019 before injuries started hindering his playing time.

Punter Luke Elzinga won't be a name that pops out during the NFL Draft, but he could be a name you recognize one day on a Sunday soon. He averaged 45.2 yards on 57 punts last season, which was ninth-best in FBS.
