Believe it or not, the Oklahoma Sooners not only found a way to win that game, but they're headed to the College Football Playoff after going 6-7 just a year ago.
The hard to kill No. 8 Sooners found a way to beat the LSU Tigers 17-13 on Saturday in Norman for a win that essentially punched their ticket to the CFP at 10-2. And obviously it was a party at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium and throughout Sooner Nation afterward.
OU fans and players were hype after Sooners beat LSU to seal spot in College Football Playoff
It was an ugly win that made for a grueling afternoon for OU fans before they got to celebrate under the lights. Quarterback John Mateer threw three interceptions. The Sooners were penalized eight times for 60 yards. OU's offense could never find a rhythm.
But none of that seemed to matter when the clock hit zero, and like when the ball drops on New Year's, the party and celebration was on as the woes to get to that point were forgotten, even if just for the moment.
The scene was absolutely electric at Memorial Stadium after the game as the team and fans celebrated together.

CONGRATULATIONS TO MY "HARD TO KILL" OKLAHOMA SOONERS, SURVIVING LSU AND ALMOST CERTAINLY MAKING THE COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS (MAYBE AT THE EXPENSE OF MY COMMODORES). THE OFFENSE STRUGGLES BUT THE DEFENSE JUST KEEPS MAKING SEASON-SAVING PLAYS.

Nothing will be guaranteed until Selection Sunday on Dec. 7, but Oklahoma is almost promised to hear its name called as part of the 12-team playoff field then. There could also be an even better atmosphere than Saturday night at Memorial Stadium if the Sooners earn a home game for the first round of the College Football Playoff.
