There haven't been many instances where Mike Gundy and Bob Stoops agreed as longtime rivals, but Stoops was a fan of Gundy's latest harebrained scheme.
This topic was sparked as college football programs, including the Bedlam rivals, are canceling regular spring games, and Colorado coach Deion Sanders is trying to play Syracuse for a spring game and have joint practices like the NFL does.
Gundy suggested a home-and-home series where OU and OSU basically scrimmage in Norman, then do it the next week in Stillwater. He said money from the games could go to NIL funds.
It wouldn't be a live game because of concern for injuries, but still certainly more than what fans are getting from the programs' current spring game formats.
OU's current plan is to debut the "Crimson Combine" on April 12, the date the annual spring game was originally scheduled for. OSU will host basically a glorified open practice at Boone Pickens Stadium on April 19.

Stoops faced off against Gundy many times in the Bedlam rivalry that's now dead after OU's move to the SEC. On Thursday, during his weekly radio appearance on KREF, Stoops brought up Gundy's idea and had only good things to say about it, other than one suggestion.
"I like it," Stoops said on the radio. "It's just good to see somebody else. I think it's a good idea. I'd be all for it. I mean, they're not gonna play each other this year, so who cares?
"And you don't have to show a lot. I would say a joint practice rather than trying to simulate a game. That gets a little bit out of control and it gets too heated. But just a practice against each other would be good. I like that idea. Maybe in the future there'll be some legs to that."
Bob Stoops likes Mike Gundy’s idea of a Bedlam joint practice in the spring.
