Oklahoma's new offensive coordinator is a romantic.

The Sooners hired Ben Arbuckle on Monday as their new offensive coordinator. He was previously at Washington State.

Since the hiring, though, everyone has been trying to learn more about the new playcaller in town. As a part of that, OU released on social media a short video of an interview between Arbuckle and "Voice of the Sooners" Toby Rowland. In the video, Arbuckle revealed that his first date with his wife was an OU football game when the Sooners hosted Notre Dame in 2012.

"Been here quite a few times actually," Arbuckle said of Norman. "Shoot, first actual time I was here was back in 2012, Oklahoma was playing Notre Dame. That was actually mine and my wife's first date. ...

"I thought my wife was really pretty, she was a really cool person. And I found that she was a big Boomer Sooner's fan. I was just trying to make an impression. And took her to the OU-Notre Dame game."

It was obviously a successful date, because Arbuckle said they've been married for six years and have a 2-year-old son, Hudson. And the date obviously went better than the game itself, as the Sooners lost 30-13.

Arbuckle grew up in West Texas, graduating from Canadian High School. It's more than a three-hour drive from Canadian to Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. And at only 29, Arbuckle would have also been only 17 on that date to watch the Sooners.

"My entire life, Oklahoma has been at the pinnacle of college football, and really college athletics as a whole, but college football, for sure," Arbuckle said. "Their brand goes far and wide. Everyone knows them. You can be not from the states and you know what Oklahoma is. Just an opportunity to be a part of it is something that I'm honored and very proud to be a part of."

Between talks of scheme and what he's excited for on the field, Arbuckle also shared more about his family during the interview.

"Most important people in my life are those two," Arbuckle said of his wife and son. "Everything that I do has those two in mind."
