Oklahoma built a 13-point first-quarter lead against Oral Roberts and stretched that to a 30-point advantage by halftime in steamrolling to a 94-54 victory at Lloyd Noble Center on Sunday.
It was the Sooners' seventh win by 30 or more points in their 10 games this season, which actually says one of two things: The Oklahoma women are either really good this season, which most expected they would be, or their nonconference schedule has not been challenging enough.
To the latter point, Oklahoma's only loss this season was to then-No. 13 Duke in late November, and the Sooners will face their second top-25 opponent of the season on Tuesday in a matchup against No. 20 Michigan in the Jumpman Invitational in Charlotte, North Carolina. The OU men will go up against the Wolverine men 24 hours later.
Twelve of the 14 Oklahoma players who saw action against Oral Roberts scored at least three points in the game, with Oregon State transfer Raegan Beers leading the way with 14 points. Payton Verhulst added 12, all coming on 3-pointers, and Sahara Williams contributed 11.
The Golden Eagles started an all-guard lineup against the Sooners, a strategy that backfired with Oklahoma out rebounding Oral Roberts by 25 boards, 59-34, and holding the visitors to just 31.5% shooting for the game.
Sunday's win was OU's 14th straight victory playing at Lloyd Noble Center carrying over from last season.
The Sooners and Oral Roberts have played each other 39 times since the series began in 1976. OU leads the series 24-15.
The Sooner women have two other nonconference games remaining -- Omaha on Dec. 22 and New Mexico State on Dec. 29 -- both at the Lloyd Noble Center, before opening SEC conference play on Jan. 2 at home against archrival and No. 6 Texas.
Three telling takeaways from the win over Oral Roberts
1. Oklahoma had a 25-rebound advantage over the Golden Eagles and a 16-rebound advantage on the offensive glass (24-8), which led to 28 second-chance points. By contrast, Oral Roberts had four second-chance points.
2. The Sooner bench players equaled the scoring output of the five OU starters, totaling 47 points.
3. Oral Roberts committed 19 turnovers in the game, and the Sooners converted those turnovers, which included 14 steals, into 25 points.
