Although the Transfer Portal has been closed, teams can still continue to make additions, and there's still plenty of talent out there for Oklahoma general manager Jim Nagy to claim for the Sooners.
At this point, for whatever reason, players have been overlooked and likely rethinking their transfer decision while growing desperate for a home. That's the perfect time for Nagy to find hidden gems for a bargain that can still benefit the Sooners in 2026 and maybe even beyond.
Nagy saw up close from the sideline what Sekou Kromah is capable of against SEC competition when the Sooners visited Temple early in the season. Kromah set a career-high with seven tackles against OU and also sacked John Mateer. He ended the season with 14 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and three sacks while playing in just seven games because of an injury.
The Sooners could still use another depth piece at defensive tackle, where Brent Venables loves to rotate, and Kromah is the best one still available, based on 247Sports' rankings.
Based on their injury history, the Sooners can never have enough depth along the offensive line, and not only is Broderick Shull the top lineman still available, but he's an Okie from Bixby High School. Shull, listed at 6-foot-5 and 327 pounds, signed with Auburn in 2025 as a four-star recruit before redshirting and hitting the portal with four years of eligibility left.
Shull still has time to develop into a lot more for the Sooners and has the talent to do so as a member of 247Sports’ 2025 Freaks List because of his size and athleticism. The fact he's from Oklahoma and has been sitting in the portal could also make him a bargain for the Sooners.
Safety is still looking thin for the Sooners, especially since they'll need Reggie Powers III at cheetah. After three great seasons at Lehigh, Nick Peltekian is the best safety still available this late to take care of the Sooners' need.
With 33 games under his belt, Peltekian has done it all during his time at Lehigh between starting at safety and returning punts for three seasons. He's been named all-conference both as a defensive back and punt returner. With one year of eligibility left, Peltekian could end up being an uncovered gem for the Sooners.
