The combination of the Oklahoma football win over BYU and Oregon State’s loss to No. 5 Washington allowed the Sooners to move up one spot to No. in this week Associated Press Top 25.

The Sooners, who are No. 14 in the most recent College Football Playoff rankings, with three more remaining before playoff rankings for 2023 become final, are No. 13 for a second consecutive week in the Coaches Poll.

Texas remains the highest ranked of the Big 12 teams. The Longhorns (9-1, 7-1) are No. 7 again this week in both weekly polls. Two other Big 12 teams — Kansas State and Oklahoma State — are ranked among the nation’s top 25 teams. K-State is ranked ahead of Oklahoma State in both the AP and Coaches poll despite having lost to the Cowboys. Kansas State is 19th this week in the AP Top 25 and No. 20 in the Coaches Poll. Oklahoma State is No, 21 in both polls.

Georgia remains No. 1 in both polls. Ohio State and Michigan switched places with the Buckeyes moving ahead of Michigan into the No. 2 spot. There is a discrepancy in the two weekly rankings this week regarding top-five teams Florida State and Washington.

Florida State has occupied the No. 4 spot in both polls for a number of weeks, but the AP voters elevated Washington ahead of Florida State into the No. 4 spot as a result of the Huskies’ 22-20 win over previous No. 11 Oregon State. Florida State, which lost its starting QB Jordan Travis to a leg injury in its 45-point win over North Alabama over the weekend, held onto the No. 4 rung in the Coaches Poll.
