The regular season is a good four months away, but Oklahoma softball coach Patty Gasso continues to make news on the recruiting trail.

The three-time reigning national champion Sooners have gained commitments from a sister pair out of South Bend, Indiana. Riley Zache is a 2024 catcher who also plays the middle infield. The older Zach sister originally was committed to Missouri but flipped to the Sooners so she could play with her sister.

Riley’s sister, Berkley, is a 2025 pitcher and rated as the No. 3 overall recruit in the 2025 Extra Inning Softball Extra Elite 100 rankings.

As a junior in high school, Riley set a program record hitting 11 home runs. She batted .538 last season with 48 RBI, 47 runs scored and 17 doubles.

Berkely has been virtually unhittable in the circle. The past two seasons at Saint Joseph High School in South Bend, she has posted a 33-2 record with an 0.27 earned run average and 513 strikeouts. She has allowed only nine earned runs (22 total) in 233 1/3 innings.

The younger Zache sister also has been prolific with the bat. She hit .423 with 11 home runs and 70 RBI as a sophomore last season

The two sisters helped lead Saint Joseph to the Class 3A state title last season.

Gasso has assembled another strong recruiting class for 2024 as the Sooners look to the future.

The Sooners will begin the 2024 regular-season schedule as favorites to win the national title for a fourth straight season, something that has never been done before. Only two schools (OU and UCLA) have won it three consecutive seasons.
