The steady upward climb of 2023 Oklahoma football in the top 25 continued for another week as the Sooners occupy the No. 14 spot this week in the Associated Press poll.

While the Sooners advanced two spots in the AP Top 24, their No. 14 position in the Coaches Poll remained unchanged this week.

After beginning the season at No. 20 in the preseason AP Top 25, in successive weeks Oklahoma has risen to No. 18, dropped back one to No. 19, moved up three to No. 16 and now to No. 14 in the weekly poll voted on by members of the media.

The Sooners’ rise in the weekly Coaches Poll has progressed from No, 19 in the preseason to No. 17, No. 16 and, for the past two weeks, to No. 14.

Texas stayed No. 3 in the AP poll this week and received two first-place votes. The Longhorns moved up to No. 5 in the Coaches Poll. Kansas, 4-0 and after an impressive home win over BYU on Saturday, broke into the top 25 this week, checking into the No. 24 position in both major polls. Kansas State is back in the top 25, at No. 25 in the Coaches Poll.

TCU is the only other Big 12 team recognized by the top-25 voters, receiving votes in both polls

Georgia, Michigan, Texas, Ohio State and Florida State, in that order, make up the top-five teams this week in the AP poll. Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Florida State and Texas are the top five in the Coaches Poll.

Washington State and Oregon State were the biggest movers in both the AP and Coaches polls this week. Washington State defeated Oregon State 38-35 on Saturday. As a result, Washington State advanced five spots in the AP poll to No. 16 and up seven spots to No. 17 in the Coaches Poll. Meanwhile, Oregon State’s three-point loss cost them five positions to No. 19 in the AP poll and six spots to No. 21 in the Coaches Poll.
