Only a couple of hours after we reported that Oklahoma softball had earned commitments from three elite 2025 prospects, all in September, Patty Gasso and her staff added a fourth.
Infielder Lexi McDaniel out of St. Joseph, Missouri, is one of the most sought after 2025 college softball recruits, and she has chosen to attend Oklahoma. She is the No. 1 player in the 2025 Extra Elite 100 rankings.
McDaniel announced her commitment on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
Playing for the Aces Fastpitch 18U softball team this summer, McDaniel’s numbers were spectacular. She hit .491 with 24 home runs and 97 runs batted in. She finished the summer season with 115 hits, including19 doubles and six triples. She struck out only 18 times in 261 plate appearances with the Aces.
"“I’m so thankful to Coach Gasso, Coach JT, Coach Rocha and the OU staff for this opportunity to live out my dream,” McDaniel wrote in her X message."
McDaniel joins other Oklahoma September commits pitcher Sophia Bordi, the No. 3 player on the 2025 Extra Innings Elite Top 100, Kendall Wells, No. 4 on the Extra Innings Elite 100, and pitcher/infielder Allyssa Park, a top-10 talent.
The Sooners, who have won three consecutive national championships in softball and six of the last 10 national titles, continue to recruit at an exceptionally high level.
In addition to completing the three-peat at the Women’s College World Series, the 2023 OU team set a new NCAA record for consecutive wins. The Sooners finished last season with a 53-game win streak and a final record of 61-1, another NCAA record for the highest winning percentage in the single season (.984).
