Oklahoma football recruiting has added a placekicker and another local, in-state prospect to its 2024 class.
Liam Evans, who will be a senior this fall at Moore High School just up the road from Norman, committed to the Sooners on Tuesday. He sent out confirmation of the commitment on his Twitter account.
According to the information on him on the Kohl’s Kicking Camp website, Evans dominated the competition at the camp in July. He made 35 of his 36 extra-point attempts and won the competition.
At a showcase camp in Texas in 2022, Evans won the field goal competition with a boot of 56 yards into a 10 mile-per-hour wind.

The 5-foot, 8-inch, 155-pound kicker is ranked by Kohl’s as the No. 7 kicker in the 2024 class.
John Hoover, who covers Oklahoma sports for Fan Nation, a website affiliated with Sports Illustrated, reported that Evans’ best attribute might be his powerful leg on kickoffs, according to the local prospect’s Kohl’s Kicking Camp evaluation.
The Sooners’ current placekicking duties are handled by Zach Schmidt, who will be a junior this season and a senior by the time Evans arrives on campus.

Evans, who has dreamed of playing football at OU since his youth, will be a preferred walk-on as part of of OU’s 2024 recruiting class. He is listed by The Oklahoman as one of the state’s Super 30, a list of the top 30 seniors in Oklahoma high school football this fall.
Next Monday (Aug. 14) is expected to be the announcement day for one of OU’s top recruiting targets in the 2024 cycle. Five-star defensive lineman Williams Nwaneri is expected to reveal his college decision on that date. The final choice is expected to be between Oklahoma and Missouri with Georgia as an outlier possibility.
