“When it rains it pours,” as the iconic Morton Salt promotional tagline goes, and it’s pouring 2025 recruiting commits on Oklahoma football this week.

The Sooners picked up their second 2025 commitment in two days with the addition of four-star, in-state prospect Elijah Thomas from Checotah, Oklahoma. According to the 247Sports Composite Player Rankings, which is an industry-wide consensus, Thomas is a top-25 receiver in the 2025 class and a top-five player from the state of Oklahoma.

Thomas was among the future recruits who attended the OU’s “Sooners under the Sun” recruiting event for 2025 prospects last weekend. Earlier this week, defensive lineman Ka’Mori Moore out of Lee’s Summit North High School in the Kansas City area pledged to the Sooners’ 2025 class.

Thomas, a 6-foot, 1-inch, 185-pound wide receiver, selected OU over offers from Alabama, Texas Tech, Arkansas, Kansas State, Kansas and others.

In his sophomore high school season Thomas caught 54 passes for 951 yards and 13 touchdowns.

“He’s probably the best athlete I’ve ever been around,” Checotah High School head football coach Zac Ross told Collin Kennedy of 247Sports about his talented wide receiver. Ross has been in his present position for 13 years.

Thomas joins quarterback commit Kevin Sperry and fellow wide receiver Gracen Harris plus Moore as early members of the Sooners’ 2025 class. Oklahoma currently ranks No. 3 behind Georgia and Alabama in the current 247Sports 2025 Recruiting Class Team Rankings.

The Sooners also picked up a projection for four-star tight end DaShaan Brame from Derby, Kansas, another of the 2025 recruiting prospects who were in attendance at the “Sooners under the Sun event.”  The 6-foot, 6-inch tight end ranks No. 9 at his position nationally, according to 247Sports.
