The X factor

The Oklahoma football program had itself a day today. The reason? There was an unbelievably talented and underrated running back from Carl Albert high school that committed to the Sooners, and he will be the “X” factor.

Carl Albert running back Xavier Robinson announced his all-in commitment to head coach Brent Venables and the Oklahoma Sooners for the 2024 recruiting class. Robinson marks the ninth verbal commitment for the Sooners in the 2024 recruiting cycle and the first from the great state of Oklahoma.

The 6-foot, 2-inch, 200-pound running back is a grown man. He’s been dominating Oklahoma Class 5A football for a while and is primed for a record year this season. Robinson ran for 2,594 yards and 39 touchdowns as a junior…in 5A… He also averaged 185.3 rushing yards per game for the state-champion Titans.

Robinson is rated as a three-star running back, which is far from the truth. Is the kid a 5-star talent? I think he is, but you be the judge. Here’s his highlight tape from his junior year.

This is one we’ve been waiting for. The Sooners must be capable of recruiting in-state talent, and Robinson is about as talented as they come. He and Westmoore’s Mykel Patterson-McDonald, are among the top players in the state, and both should be Sooners. My personal opinion? These two kids are the best players in the state. I’ve seen them play, and there will be disagreement here. I know Xadavien Sims and Danny Okoye are awesome and highly rated, but these two are just as good. Hopefully, Robinson’s commitment can lure Mykel a little closer.

Great news for Sooner Nation today. I got my alert while I was on the golf course today. In fact, I had just sliced a massive drive into a pond when I got the alert. Seeing the news that Robinson had committed made me forget that the Callaway had just drowned. He’s a huge kid and is a massive commitment to the Oklahoma football program.

Welcome to Norman “X.” We’re glad to have you, sir. We know you’re bringing a storm with you. You and your new QB Kevin Sperry (OU QB Committ for 25′) will steamroll 5A this year, man…
