The Oklahoma football program is waiting patiently. They’ve been waiting for a while on a host of verbal commitments to land, with Norman being their final destination. Many projects in the Sooners’ 2024 recruiting class will be ranked in the nation’s top 10. But projections don’t pay the bills…

With the famous ChampU BBQ in the Sooners’ rearview mirror, head coach Brent Venables keeps his phone’s ringer turned all the way up. Many national recruiting experts have entered official predictions indicating their belief that the Sooners will land multiple big-time recruits. Finally, some of those names’ commitments are coming true.

Wide receiver Dozie Ezukanma and linebacker James Nesta have both committed their full intent to play for the Oklahoma football program in the future. These two commitments mark the first official commitments of the Summer recruiting cycle and two significant commitments for the Oklahoma football program.

Dozie Ezukanma is a speedy wide receiver from Fort Worth, Texas. He’s a composite three-star receiver who chose the Sooners over Arkansas, Houston, Kansas, and Kansas State offers. Dozie stands 6-foot, 2-inches, and weighs 180 pounds; he earned an official scholarship offer from coach Venables following an eye-opening performance in an elite camp earlier this Summer in Norman.

James Nesta is a massive addition to the Sooners’ 2024 class. Nesta is a composite 4-star linebacker from Cornelius, North Carolina. He chose the Sooners over a close race with Miami and North Carolina. Nesta ranks as the 33rd-best linebacker in America in the class of 2024. He’s a 6-foot, 4-inch, 205-pounder who flies around the field. One more year of weight still needs to be added, but his frame is easily big enough to handle it.

These two commitments raise the 2024 Sooners’ total to nine, and their overall recruiting ranking should also climb a little. In the coming weeks, several more targets are expected to announce their college destination as well. Be sure and check in with us to find out the latest.

Welcome to Norman gentlemen. We know a storm is coming with you.
