1980s Oklahoma teams under Switzer

Switzer remained as OU coach through the 1988 season. Although his Sooner teams those years were not as prolific as the previous decade, they still combined to win 84 games, lose 22 and tie two games and win five Big Eight championships and finish second the other four seasons.

Connelly ranked Oklahoma as the third best team of the 1980s, but interestingly, none of the OU teams in that decade ranked as one of the top-five best teams, or as one of the top-five best offensive teams.
