Back to the good ol’ days in the Sooner’s first SEC home game. The Missouri Tigers return to Norman in the introductory SEC game in Norman. This is another ‘pod’ matchup for the Sooners. Still, more importantly, it’s a cool-down game after Florida and before the home stretch of the SEC Bruisers. The Tigers won’t come to Norman unprepared; remember, they’re a part of the ‘we don’t want them here’ crowd.
The last time the Tigers came to Norman, they left with their tails between their feline legs following a 38-28 loss to the Sooners in 2011. I’d expect similar results, but these differ from the old Big 8 Tigers. This program is more challenging than they were in 2011, and they’ve proven it over the last couple of seasons with their success in the portal and the recruiting cycle. That SEC patch sure does wonders.
Also, what better way to start the SEC in Norman than by playing for the much-coveted Tiger-Sooner Peace Pipe? Although it was lost in 1975, OU still technically has its rights. Maybe, now that we will be yearly foes with the Tigers again, we can construct a new one.
