No. 1 seed and No. 1-ranked Oklahoma softball extended its winning streak to 43 games and captured the Big 12 Tournament championship in the process by defeating Texas 6-1 on Saturday at Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.

Alyssa Brito laced a double plugging the gap in right-center-field in the fourth inning scoring Haley Lee who had singled and breaking a 1-1 tie. Brito scored on a wild pitch, and OU added another run in the inning when Riley Boone stroked a single up the middle with two out, scoring Jordy Bahl from second and putting OU up 4-1.

Texas had tied the game in the top half of the fourth on a solo home run by Viviana Martinez. The Sooners had gone out in front 1-0 on a home run to center field by Haley Lee, her 13th of the season, leading off the second inning.

Nicole May started in the circle for the Sooners. She pitched the first 4.0 innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out two and walking one. Bahl entered the game in relief in the fifth inning and closed out the win for the Crimson and Cream, allowing just two singles over the final three frames.

Oklahoma has now defeated Texas in 31 of the last 32 games between the two teams.

It was Oklahoma’s fourth Big 12 Tournament championship in the last five years and the eighth overall. It also completes the Big 12 championship sweep for the 2023 season. The Sooners won their 15th Big 12 regular-season championship with an 18-0 record.
