The Oklahoma football program’s 2024 recruiting class continues to grow. Brent Venables just received his fourth verbal commitment for the 2024 class from Itawamba Agricultural’s Isaiah Autry.

Isaiah Autry is a composite 3-star offensive tackle from Fulton Mississippi. Autry’s size is impressive standing at 6-foot, 6 inches and weighing 280 pounds. He ranks as the nation’s 50th rated offensive tackle and the 14th best player in the state of Mississippi, according to 247Sports.

Autry chose the Sooners over an impressive offer list including Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, and Ole Miss.

The Sooners officially offered Autry on March 27th during an unofficial visit to Norman. Autry quickly grew to like the Sooners and received several expert predictions to commit to OU shortly after receiving his offer.

Autry has a tall, athletic frame that looks to support additional weight following his arrival in Norman. He plays with good athleticism and shows quick feet. While watching Autry’s film, I noticed he was efficient with his hand placement and came off the ball quick. He overpowers defenders at the point of contact and utilizes his leverage well. Autry is a consistent finisher and plays with good aggression. After Coach Schmidt and his strength staff add more mass to Autry’s frame, I would look to see him compete for playing time quickly.

Autry is the Sooners first offensive line commitment for the 2024 recruiting class and the Sooner football program’s first Mississippi native. Oklahoma adds an additional state to its recruiting reach, this one being deep in the heart of SEC country. It’s a good sign to see the Sooners extending their recruiting reach into traditional SEC country prior to their arrival in the conference next Summer. The Sooners were also able to extend further into SEC country with the recent verbal commitment of Louisiana native wide receiver Kelly Daniels.

The Sooners have their sights set on signing more offensive linemen in this class. it is expected the Sooners will attempt to sign another three to four offensive linemen.

Welcome to Norman, Mr. Autry. We know a storm is coming with you.
