Sooner super senior Olivia Trautman scored a perfect “10” on vault and the No. 1 women’s Oklahoma gymnastics team defeated No. 2 Florida Friday night in a rematch of the 2022 NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championship finals.

Trautman’s perfect score came on the first rotation of the night for Oklahoma. It was just her second vault competition of the season and her fourth perfect score in the event in her career. OU’s 49.600 vault score was its second highest of the season.

The Sooners got off to a fast start winning the vault event by a .75 margin (49.600 to 49.525). The Sooners also posted the high team score in floor exercise, and the two teams tied on bars and on the beam.

OU sophomore Jordan Bowers shared the individual championship on beam with Sloane Blakley of Florida, both with identical scores of 9.950, and Sooner freshman Faith Torrez shared the individual title on floor with Leane Wong of the Gators, who also captured all-around crown. Torrez’s 9.950 score on her floor routine matched a career high.

The Sooner women improved to 13-0 this season. In addition to the dual win over No. 2 Florida, Oklahoma already has wins in 2023 over No. 4 Michigan, No. 5 Auburn, No. 5 Utah, No. 9 Denver, No. 11 Alabama, No. 13 LSU, No. 16 Arkansas and No. 24 Stanford.

Oklahoma will make its final road trip of the regular season when it travels to face No. 4 Michigan for a second time this season. The two schools were among four teams that competed in the inaugural Super 16 in Las Vegas to open the season. Auburn and UCLA also participated in that event.
