Oklahoma football quarterback Dillon Gabriel threw a career-high six touchdown passes along with a season-best 449 passing yards in the Sooners loss to Texas Tech on Saturday.

For that performance, the Sooner quarterback has been named Big 12 Co-Offensive Player of the Week as well as Newcomer of the Week in the conference.

Gabriel shares Offensive Player of the Week with RB Bijan Robinson of Texas and Newcomer of the Week honors with RB Jaylen Anderson of West Virginia.

A redshirt-junior who transferred to Oklahoma prior to the season from Central Florida, Gabriel completed 70 percent of his passes (28 of 40) and had a season-high 208.8 passing efficiency rating in the Sooners’ regular-season finale at Texas Tech on Saturday.

Gabriel led an OU offensive attack on Saturday that produced 672 yards of offense and averaged 7.7 yards per play.

For the season, Gabriel ranked second in the Big 12 among quarterbacks in total offense (293.2 yards per game), passing yards (265.9), pass efficiency rating (154.2), passing yards per completion (13.5) and passing touchdowns (24).

The other Big 12 honoree this week was kicker Trey Wolf of Texas Tech, who kicked the game-winning field goal against Oklahoma in overtime on Saturday.

This was Gabriel’s third and fourth such honor from the Big 12 this season. He was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week on Sept. 10 and Oct. 17. Two other Oklahoma players have received Big 12 weekly honors this season. Punter Michael Turk was named Big 12 Co-Special Teams Player of the Week on Oct. 31, and C.J. Coldon was honored as Newcomer of the Week last week following the Sooners win over Oklahoma State.
