Oklahoma football cashed in on more than one win on Saturday.

The first commitment from a rowdy Bedlam win comes from fast-rising three-star DT Ashton Sanders.  The young man from Los Angeles, California has quite impressive tape.  Ashton helped Cathedral to a playoff berth and a 10-3 record this year with his disruption and anchor abilities. In short, Ashton is a menace, and he squatted rent-free in the backfields of a lot of high schools on the golden coast.

Who is Ashton Sanders?

Ashton Sanders is a three-star defensive tackle prospect from Los Angeles, California. He is 6-foot 2-inches and 275 pounds. He was previously committed to California and holds over a dozen power five offers including from the likes of Notre Dame, Maryland, Wisconsin, and Utah.  Ashton was kind enough to help me with his measurements! Thanks, Ashton, as he has worked his tail off to sculpt his body in preparation for the next level, the recruiting sites, and three different listings for size!

Scouting and Impact for Oklahoma

Ashton’s tape is explosive, for a defensive tackle to be as athletic, and have the step he has is very rare. It’s clear he has been under-recruited, and also clear that he has improved a lot, as he has sculpted his body. Ashton lives in the opposing team’s backfield. He is difficult to block one on one, he gets good leverage push but also closes quickly. Against the ground game, he is an anchor, he is strong at the point and tough to push back, often occupying two blocks. When single, he often gets in the backfield to make the play himself as he has incredible speed for his size. This is the type of player that can take snaps at Oklahoma early, but will likely need a year to change his body, and put some weight back on but done so in the college weight room. He reminds me a lot of the twitchy ability we saw in the past from players like Neville Galimore and Perrion Winfrey in an OU uniform.
