Nov. 19 vs. Oklahoma State Cowboys in Norman

This could be the last Bedlam football game played at Oklahoma between these two in-state rivals. Before this past weekend, Oklahoma State was undefeated and the 8th-ranked team in the nation. An overtime loss at TCU last weekend dropped the Cowboys several spots, to No. 11 in the Associated Press poll. OSU has a couple of tough games (at home against Texas and at Kansas State) before playing OU, but the Cowboys will likely still be ranked in the top-25 nationally when they come to Norman.

Oklahoma State arguably has the best quarterback in the Big 12 in four-year veteran Spencer Sanders and has talented players at the offensive skill positions. The Cowboys are better when they pass the ball, although they have two very capable runners in Dominic Richardson and Sanders. To OSU’s advantage, the Sooners haven’t been very good stopping the run or the pass this season. But this is a rivalry game, and that brings out a different emotion and style of play on both sides.

In looking ahead to this Bedlam showdown, I can’t help but recall the 2009 game between these two teams. The game was played in Norman. Oklahoma State came into the game ranked 11th in the country. With Sam Bradford out injured for most of the season, the Sooners came into the game unranked and sporting a very pedestrian un-Oklahoma like 6-5 record. The underdog Sooners prevailed 27-0. It likely won’t be a shutout, but how about deja vu all over again.
